North Dakota Soybean Council

Our Goals – Drive Demand, Foster Alliances

The North Dakota Soybean Council works to:

  • Drive demand
  • Boost soybean quality
  • Find new uses for soybeans
  • Promote N.D. and U.S. soybeans worldwide
  • Foster strategic alliances at national and state levels
  • Strengthen the livestock industry (our largest customer)

Stewards of Your Checkoff Dollars

We represent more than 6,500 soybean producers in N.D. Each contributes to the checkoff program 1/2 percent of the market value at the time of sale. Checkoff funds vary from year to year, but currently total approximately $6–$7.2 million annually, 50 percent of which is forwarded to the United Soybean Board.

Checkoff dollars fund six initiatives:

  • International marketing
  • Domestic marketing
  • Consumer information
  • Producer communications
  • Research
  • Administration

Research is Key

We're committed to funding a strong soybean research program, allocating 35–40% of available revenue for soybean production research. We also contribute funds to the North Central Soybean Research Program (NCSRP) to help coordinate regional soybean production research.

Strong Results

As a result of promoting the high value and quality of N.D. and U.S. soybeans worldwide, the U.S. holds the title of largest soybean exporter in the world.
